SMUSD Families, I want to take a moment to thank you for your patience and cooperation during today's Reunification Drill at Desert Sunset Elementary and Winters' Well Elementary. Although the drill did have it's hiccups we are pleased with the result and learning experience. As we move forward, our priority is ensuring that everyone in our school community feels safe and supported. Our goal is to continue refining our safety protocols to better protect our students and staff. Thank you again for your understanding and continued partnership in keeping our school community safe. Apex FUTURE Update! Dear Parents, We’re on the path to success for our Apex fundraiser. Today we learned that FUTURE LEADERS ARE GRATEFUL and show appreciation for all we have in our lives! As Future Leaders we show gratitude for ourselves, for the people around us who help us get better, and for the opportunities we get to improve ourselves! Results so far: Our class has raised $43.33 per lap. Today’s challenge: We are extending the LOG-IN CHALLENGE! Each class that reaches 80% logged-in will receive 1 raffle entry for a chance to win a pizza party! If a class reaches 100% logged-in, then they will get 5 raffle entries! Only one class will win! It’s Happening! Apex is HERE!! Dear Parents, Today was our Apex Pep Rally kicking off our two-week fundraiser and leadership program! The Apex Team will be on campus sharing amazing leadership lessons and helping our school raise money for Student Incentives & Classroom Teacher Wish List The fundraiser will end with a super fun celebration event on Friday, May 9th. This Year’s Leadership Theme: APEX FUTURE - As Future Leaders we see that what we do right now can shape our world and make our future brighter! Our School Fundraising Goal: $25,000 Our First Challenge: The class that raises the MOST IN PLEDGES tonight, will take hold of the Apex Top Pledges Medallion!!! Go to www.myapexevent.com and log in using your child’s unique ACCESS CODE. Their Access Code and a QR code for the site can be found on their VIP Badge which is coming home TODAY. Use the “Share Wizard” tool to send a donation link to 10 family members and friends via email, text, and social media asking that they donate online to help our school. Make a flat donation OR pledge a dollar amount per lap that your child completes at the event. Reported laps are capped at 36 max. If a student is absent or unable to participate, their laps completed will default to 30. Be on the lookout for daily updates regarding our pledge totals as a class along with other information about the big event next week. Congratulations to Andrea Stoneburg, multi-grade level Structured Teaching Classroom teacher, our Teacher of the Year! Ms. Stoneburg has set the bar high for her students and they have had amazing successes in academics, life skills, and self regulation. Her classroom has become one of strong connections and positive culture. She continues to develop her support team, who are equally compassionate about student success. Ms. Stoneburg went into this year expecting a completely different path, but has really found a role perfectly matches the love she has for kids. Thank you!
